My Content Diet

October 27, 2024

I believe you can understand a lot about someone by looking at the content they consume. If not completely, it at least gives you a vague idea about their motivations and thought processes. So, I want to share my content diet - the inputs that shape my thinking and building approach.

The Podcast Trinity: Where I Find Deep Insights

My podcast listening habits center around three main shows that consistently deliver depth over surface-level chatter. Dwarkesh Patel's podcast has become my absolute favorite. What sets it apart is how the conversations dive deep beneath the obvious, avoiding the superficiality that plagues many modern podcasts. When I listen to Dwarkesh's interviews, I feel like I'm part of a meaningful dialogue rather than just consuming content.

My First Million with Sam Parr and Shaan Puri hits differently. Their conversations are wildly entertaining, but what keeps me coming back are the fascinating stories they uncover about various entrepreneurs and businesses. I promise you - these are stories you won't find anywhere else. Their ability to find and share these hidden gems makes each episode a treasure trove of insights.

Then there's Nikhil Kamath's podcast, where episodes stretch into 3-4 hour marathons of industry deep-dives. While it might seem daunting, I've found these lengthy discussions invaluable for understanding entire industries. Pro tip: I use the timestamps to navigate to the most interesting parts when I can't commit to the full session.

My Written Word Consumption

When it comes to blogs and written content, I'm drawn to writers who combine unique style with substantial insights:

Jason Liu's blog on writing has become my go-to resource. His posts are not just well-written; they're packed with actionable insights that have significantly influenced how I approach writing and communication.

I regularly visit Every.to, where Dan Shipper and his team consistently produce banger posts - pieces that make me think differently about familiar topics.

Shaan Puri's blog has become another favorite. His writing style is so unconventional that it shouldn't work, but it does - brilliantly. I find myself drawn to how he breaks traditional writing rules while delivering powerful insights.
